Labrador West offers many enjoyable activities throughout the winter months; snow cover usually falls in late October and melts in early May. The average annual snowfall is 366 cm (12 feet), a dream for the winter enthusiast. Our lakes freeze over from mid-December to early April, ensuring lots of ice fishing time. When the ice thickens, snowmobiles can travel over it to connect to our intricate snowmobile trail system. January and February are the coldest months of the year with temperatures averaging an exhilarating -30 degrees Celsius. With cold temperatures come clear skies — prime conditions for viewing the magnificent Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights in all their majesty.
