My name is Junior Humphries, and I moved to Labrador City in 1973 with my wife Josephine. We have raised our three children here, all of which still live here, including our two grandchildren, Amelia and Evan.
I have been a volunteer in our community for more than 45 years. Volunteering as a Boy Scout Leader, Softball Coach, Minor Hockey Referee, Lions Club Member, Minor Hockey as a Coach, Director, Manager and presently serving an 18 year term as President of Labrador West Minor Hockey. In 1995 with my daughter Tina, we started a Minor Hockey Female Division for all ages in Labrador West, and it is still going strong. In 2017 I was instrumental in bringing Special Olympics program to Labrador West, and is pleased to see that this program is progressing well with a group of Athletes and many Volunteers.
I am also the Chair of the Carol United Church Official Board and a member of Session.
I am proud to say I was Deputy Mayor of Labrador City for the past 8 years and have thoroughly enjoyed my two terms working with a great bunch of Councillors, Mayors and staff during that time.
As my introduction suggests, I am very interested in working with and for our Youth of Labrador West. Another interest of mine is making sure our Seniors have the opportunity and affordability to reside in Labrador West if they so chose. I am also very interested in making our town accessible and inclusive, so everyone with mobility issues can get out and enjoy the services that Labrador City has to offer.
