The Spirit of Labrador Event recognizes and celebrates the Aboriginal ancestry native to Labrador. The history of Aboriginal peoples in Canada is rich and diverse. The history of First Nations, Inuit and Innu is essentially the very history of Canada as they have played, and continue to play important roles in its development and its future. In recognition to the Canada 150 theme “reconciliation with Indigenous peoples”, the Great Canadian Life Project celebrates the aboriginal culture in Labrador with “Spirit of Labrador”. The Spirit of Labrador weekend will honor the culture and traditions of Labrador’s earliest settlers through song, dance and demonstration.
