Air and ground crews will be deployed today to support operations. Forestry has advised that additional resources are being brought in to support ongoing suppression efforts, including 20 additional firefighters.

Crews remain focused on the fire edge closest to the community, where work continues to establish and strengthen containment lines. Air assets are monitoring other active fires within the region, We would like to acknowledge Rio Tinto IOC, RNC and Ground Search and Rescue for the ongoing community collaboration throughout this event.

Officials are conducting daily assessments of fire activity and overall risk, including a review of the current evacuation order. While progress continues, conditions remain hot and the situation remains dynamic. Additional information regarding evacuation areas and any potential changes will be shared as soon as it becomes available. Air quality conditions across Labrador West remain favourable, and response partners continue to monitor conditions closely.

The Town’s Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) remains active, with staff working closely alongside Forestry, Fire Services, Provincial officials, the Canadian Red Cross, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, and other response agencies.
