The Town Council is responsible for making local laws, managing the town’s budget, overseeing public services, and representing the interests of residents.
Town Council meetings are typically held the first Tuesday of every month. You can find the schedule on our Council Calendar or by contacting the Town Hall. Meetings are open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend. Meetings are also streamed live on the Town of Labrador City Facebook page.
Residents can submit written comments via email, at council@labradorcity.ca or schedule a meeting with a Council member by calling (709) 944-2621.
Residents can Report a Concern directly to the appropriate department from our website home page. You can also contact the Town Hall at 944-2621 during regular hours of operation. After hours, please call 944-7832. If your issue isn’t resolved, you can bring it to the attention of the Town Manager at 944-4102.
Decisions are made through discussions, public input, and voting among Council members. We strive for transparency and community engagement in our decision-making process.
Details about taxes, fees, and assessment processes can be found under the Residents section of our website. Commercial tax and information can be found under the Business Section or our website. You can also contact the Town Hall to speak with someone directly.
All development proposals undergo a thorough review process. Residents are encouraged to submit their input in writing before a specified deadline. Development applications are advertised on social media for a period of 2 weeks, allowing the public to express their support or concerns about the proposal. The Department of Planning and Development will evaluate the proposal, assess its compliance with eligibility criteria, and present the findings to the Council for consideration and final decision.
The Town Council supports local events and may offer resources such as permits, financial contribution, or promotional assistance. Requests should be made in writing to council@labradorcity.ca
You can subscribe to our newsletter, follow us on social media, or check our website for news and updates regarding Council activities and community events.
