The Labrador City Fire Department is inviting residents to participate in Fire Prevention Week 2026, taking place from October 4 to 10.
This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme, “Charge Into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower,” focuses on the safe use of batteries, chargers, and electronic devices. The campaign encourages residents to learn simple steps that can help prevent fires and keep their families safe.
To kick off the week, the Labrador City Fire Department will partner with the Wabush Fire Department and IOC Security to host a Fire Prevention Parade on Sunday, October 4, at 6:00 p.m. The parade will begin at the Wabush Shopping Centre and travel through the communities, promoting fire safety awareness and recognizing the collaborative efforts of emergency services personnel.
Residents are encouraged to come out and show their support. The parade provides an opportunity for community members to connect with local emergency responders while helping spread important fire prevention messages throughout Labrador West.
As part of Fire Prevention Week activities, firefighters will also visit local schools to engage students in fire safety education and prevention awareness.
