Wildfire Update – July 3, 2026 (Evening)

Forestry crews, air support, the Incident Management Team, Labrador City Fire Department personnel, and other response partners continued suppression and monitoring efforts throughout the day.

Forestry reports that crews continue to make good progress around the Walsh River fire perimeter. Ground crews remain focused on strengthening containment lines and identifying hotspots, while helicopter operations continue to support suppression work in key areas.

Current weather conditions continue to support firefighting efforts, and no significant change in fire activity was reported today.

Forestry officials advised that warmer and drier conditions are forecast for early next week. As a result, additional resources and equipment are being positioned over the weekend, including additional firefighters, air support, pumps, and sprinkler equipment, to strengthen preparedness and support ongoing suppression activities.

The evacuation order remains in effect for the Walsh River Cabin Area.

The Evacuation Alert remains in effect for:

• Duley Lake
• Throne Lake
• Tamarack Golf Course Road Area

Residents in Alert areas should remain prepared to leave on short notice should conditions change.

Air quality conditions in Labrador West remain favourable and continue to be monitored.

The Town’s Emergency Operations Centre remains active and continues to work closely with Forestry, Fire Services, Provincial officials, RNC, and other response partners.
