The Town of Labrador City is now accepting applications for its 2026 Community Grant Program. The deadline to submit an application is November 4.
The Community Grant Program recognizes the important contribution of volunteer-led community organizations that deliver social, cultural, recreational, sport, health and economic initiatives benefiting Labrador City residents. The program is intended to provide equitable access to municipal funding while supporting municipal priorities, accountability and measurable community benefit.
Who Can Apply?
The Community Grant Policy applies to community groups and organizations requesting $1,000 or more from the Town. Applicants must:
- be registered as a non-profit or charitable organization;
- primarily benefit residents of Labrador City;
- demonstrate that the grant is supplementary and is not the organization’s primary source of funding;
- demonstrate financial transparency and accountability; and
- propose a project or initiative occurring within the year of funding.
Requests below $1,000 are processed under the Town’s Donation or Sponsorship Policy, as applicable.
How Applications Are Assessed
Applications are reviewed and approved by Council. The policy identifies several assessment criteria, including alignment with Council’s Strategic Plan and priorities, demonstrated community need and impact, organizational capacity and governance, financial need and sustainability, the number of Labrador City residents served, volunteer involvement, partnerships and collaboration, external funding leveraged, application completeness and quality, and past performance and reporting compliance.
Grant amounts are subject to available funding, and approval of a grant does not constitute a commitment to future funding. Successful applicants are required to enter into a Grant Agreement outlining applicable terms, conditions and reporting requirements.
Apply by November 4
Eligible organizations interested in applying are encouraged to review the Community Grant Policy and application requirements before submitting their application.
