The Town has been made aware of reports that individuals are contacting local businesses by phone claiming to be with the local fire department and requesting access to conduct general fire or safety inspections.

These calls are not legitimate and may be part of a scam.
Please be aware of the following:

✅ Do:
• Be cautious if you receive an unexpected call requesting access to your property.
• Contact the Labrador City Fire Department directly at (709) 944-7832 if you are unsure about the legitimacy of a call or visit.
• Report suspicious activity to the local authorities.

❌ Do Not:
• Provide personal, financial, or sensitive information over the phone.

The Labrador City Fire Department does not conduct unsolicited door-to-door safety inspections arranged through phone calls of this nature.

If you receive a suspicious call, please exercise caution and report it to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary at (709) 944-7602 or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
