Fabian Benoit’s family moved to Labrador City when he was very young, and after leaving for a short period after high school, has resided here in the Big Land ever since. Fabian and his wife Tanya have been fortunate to raise their family here, enjoying the lifestyle that living in Labrador City provides.
He has worked at IOC since 2004, and for the past 7 years has been a trustee on the USW 5795 executive. He is currently a co-chair of the Joint Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (JOSHE) committee for IOC, in addition to being the co-chair of the retiree drug assistance fund which was set up in 2007 to help retirees with drug costs after retirement. Fabian has also in the past, served as the labour representative on the Hyron Economic Development Board.
He is the current president of the Labrador West District Labour Council and has served in this role for 5 years. This position also gives him a seat on the executive of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour. Fabian enjoys working within the community and one of his favourite endeavours has been to serve for the Red Cross Society of Labrador West.
