Wildfire Update – Evacuation Alerts Lifted<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following a recommendation from Forestry officials, the Walsh River Fire has now been classified as Under Control.
\nAs a result, the Town of Labrador City is lifting the Evacuation Alerts for:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Walsh River Cabin Area
\n\u2022 Duley Lake
\n\u2022 Throne Lake
\n\u2022 Tamarack Golf Course Road Area<\/p>\n

With the lifting of these Alerts, there are currently no evacuation alerts or evacuation orders in effect in Labrador West related to the Walsh River fire.<\/p>\n

What Residents Should Expect<\/strong>
\nWhile the wildfire situation has improved significantly, residents may continue to see firefighting personnel, equipment, helicopters, and other wildfire response resources operating in the area over the coming days.
\nForestry officials remain actively engaged in suppression efforts on the Lake Jackson fire near the Quebec border, and some of the resources currently staged in Labrador West are supporting those operations.<\/p>\n

Residents may also continue to see smoke at times depending on weather conditions and wildfire activity elsewhere in the region.<\/p>\n

Removal of Structural Protection Equipment<\/strong>
\nBeginning tomorrow, the Labrador City Fire Department, with support from Forestry crews, will begin removing structural protection equipment from the Walsh River area.
\nWe ask residents and cabin owners to continue respecting any remaining firefighting equipment and infrastructure until removal activities have been completed.<\/p>\n

\nThe Town of Labrador City extends its sincere appreciation to Forestry officials, firefighters, emergency responders, volunteers, municipal staff, industry partners, provincial agencies, and all those who supported response efforts throughout this event.
\nWe also thank residents, cabin owners, and the broader community for their patience, cooperation, and support over the past two weeks.<\/p>\n

While the Emergency Operations Centre will transition away from active response operations, the Town will continue to monitor conditions closely and remain in contact with Forestry officials regarding wildfire activity in the region.
