Wildfire Update – July 4, 2026

There is no significant change in wildfire conditions to report since yesterday’s update.

Forestry crews, air support, and response partners continue to make steady progress on suppression efforts in the Walsh River area. Current weather conditions remain favourable for firefighting operations, allowing crews to continue strengthening containment lines, addressing hotspots, and preparing for forecasted weather conditions early next week.

Forestry officials continue to monitor forecasts calling for warmer and drier conditions on Monday and Tuesday. In anticipation of those conditions, additional suppression measures are underway, including ongoing aerial operations, perimeter suppression work, and the positioning of additional firefighting resources and equipment throughout the weekend.

Residents may notice increased aircraft activity over the coming days. Forestry advised this is proactive work to soak sections of the fire perimeter and reduce the potential for flare-ups before the anticipated weather change.

The evacuation order remains in effect for the Walsh River Cabin Area.

The Evacuation Alert remains in effect for:

• Duley Lake
• Throne Lake
• Tamarack Golf Course Road Area

Residents in Alert areas should continue to stay informed and remain prepared should conditions change.

The Town’s Emergency Operations Centre remains active and continues to work closely with Forestry and response partners.
